Partners in “Glory” - A New Café
Ray of Hope is very excited about the development of a deeper partnership with Waterloo Mennonite Brethren Church (WMB), which will bring Morning Glory Café coffee & snacks to WMB members every Sunday morning. As a church they have committed to providing a great service to their attendees and creating a place where Morning Glory Café graduates can continue to develop their job training skills.
Karen West, Pastor of Missional Initiatives, shared the church’s enthusiasm about their long awaited café. “We at WMB are very excited about this new component of our partnership with Ray of Hope, in the launch of a Morning Glory Café in our church building! Not only will we have great coffee and refreshments on Sunday mornings, but our dollars will also be supporting Ray of Hope's amazing training program (talk about 'double, double'!)”.
The proposed Sunday, February 12th opening of the Morning Glory Café at WMB will be another example of the creative partnership this church has developed with Ray of Hope. Recently “Hope Studio”, a fine arts pilot program facilitated by WMB artists, launched as an integral part of the Ray of Hope Community Centre’s new Wednesday afternoon drop-in. Using their artistic gifts these volunteers help Community Centre guests express themselves through the arts, all the while demonstrating Christ’s love through building genuine relationships.
West summarizes the feelings of all involved with the new café and the arts studio when she wrote, “We look forward to all that God has in mind for the future as we take these next steps”.
