Employment Services

Are you an employer? Would you like to hire a motivated person?

Local companies are partnering with Ray of Hope to offer work experience to our Employment Program trainees. They fill job vacancies or create new positions through a contract with Ray of Hope, the trainee, and Service Canada. The programs aim to provide valuable experience and lead to permanent employment.

Here’s how employers like you can benefit:

  • You’ll get the satisfaction of providing valuable work experience to deserving individuals who have faced barriers to employment
  • You’ll receive 350 to 700 hours of labour costs subsidized at the minimum wage per hour
  • Your reimbursement will take place according to your pay cycle (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly)
  • Trainees have current certifications in First Aid/CPR, Health and Safety, and Safe Food Handling
  • Trainees come with a professional and vetted reference
  • Uniform costs and transportation support are available as a part of the program

This is how it works:

  • The placement is funded by Service Canada
  • Each trainee is required to complete 350 to 700 hours in their placement, which is 10 to 20 weeks
  • The trainee is added to the company’s payroll like any other employee and is subject to all training requirements, employment standards, and applicable laws
  • A financial incentive is offered at minimum wage to subsidize the hours worked
  • Trainees must be paid at the posted rate, and the employer will be reimbursed accordingly
  • Support and job coaching is available from Ray of Hope to both the trainee and the employer
  • At the end of the contract, the employer has the opportunity to hire the trainee as a regular employee or to end the work experience
